My love for photography started as a young teenager. I loved capturing the dew drop on a rose, or the bee hovering over a wildflower, or even the sunset behind a farm and silo. I loved photographing moments in time and being able to look back on them days, weeks, months, and even years later and remember the beauty and joy in that memory. As a young hobby photographer, I always said that "Photography is capturing a memory and freezing it in time." and to this day I still hold fast to that ideology.
As I have grown as a photographer, I have found that my editing style is bright and vivid and I try to "freeze" the image just the way it looked to the naked eye on the day we captured it. I have come a long way since photographing a dew drop on the rose, but my love for creating memories and capturing special moments has not been diminished. I am always looking for candid moments that express the true emotion of the day, but I also love creating art in suggesting posing and positioning ideas. Being able to be a photographer is a dream come true, but it is only made better by the fact that I get to work alongside my best friend.
I started my photography journey 13 years ago, and I am still learning to this day. I was first photographing my two boys when they were young. I eventually got into doing glam/boudoir photography. I actually ended up being published in some small on-line publications. In boudoir, I was able to gain valuable experience about shadows, lighting, and such. Yet the biggest thing I learned is how to work with clients, get them to relax, and gain their true authentic emotions through my photos. That's where I've learned to excel... making photography more than just photos. I aim to make it an amazing enjoyable experience for my clients, get those raw emotions I'm looking for and my final photos aim to show that.
Kara would also say that my expertise lies in capturing the story as it happens. Candid's are my favorite shots to photograph as it tells the truth of the moment. Whether it's laughing until you cry or looking in to your loved ones eyes, I love being able to capture that true moment as if I wasn't even there and present it to the client as an authentic emotion and beauty of that moment. Those are the photos that will tell the story and keep the memories for them for years to come.
